On February 19, a special educational workshop for preschoolers took place at the Municipal Library in Żarnowiec. The session was led by Iwona Gębka, the eco-manager of Żarnowiec Municipality, and aimed to introduce children to the principles of proper waste segregation and raise awareness about smog and the impact of air quality on health.

The workshop began with an introduction to the world of recycling and waste segregation. The eco-manager explained to the youngest participants in a simple yet engaging way why it is crucial to separate waste into plastic, paper, and glass. The children had the opportunity to see colorful waste bins and learn which types of waste should be placed in each.

Additionally, an interactive presentation helped the children understand how everyday habits influence environmental protection and the benefits of recycling.

A key topic of the meeting was air quality and the dangers associated with smog. Through play-based activities, the children learned how smog forms, why it is harmful, and what actions can help combat air pollution. During the workshop, the preschoolers discovered the most common causes of smog, such as burning non-eco-friendly fuels, and learned how they can contribute to environmental protection through simple, everyday actions.

The workshop was not limited to theory—children actively participated in various educational games and exercises. They matched cards with ecological symbols and worked together to color reusable cotton bags. These unique eco-bags were purchased as part of the LIFE "Silesia. Blue Sky Restored" project, further emphasizing the importance of initiatives aimed at improving air quality in the region.

The workshops in Żarnowiec demonstrated the importance of introducing children to ecological topics from an early age. Through play and interactive exercises, the youngest participants learned how essential waste segregation and air quality care are.

Thanks to such initiatives, environmental awareness among children continues to grow, and the knowledge they gained during the workshop will undoubtedly translate into eco-friendly attitudes in the future.
