The first meeting of the "School Anti-smog Team" took place in Żarnowiec.

Its creator and mentor is Iwona Gębka, eco-manager of Żarnowiec Commune. Striving to improve air quality in the Silesian Voivodeship is the goal included in the project "Silesia. Blue sky. Restored".

Thanks to a variety of educational materials, workshops, discussions and special campaigns, students associated with the Interschool Anti-smog Team "Young Ecologists" are looking for answers to three main questions:

  • Where does smog come from?
  • How does it affect our health, budget, environment?
  • What can each of us do to improve air quality?

Since the first meeting fell just before Earth Day, its topic was about this holiday.

"Lapbook Earth Day" is a unique proposition for conducting workshops. A lapbook is a form of creative presentation of information on a specific topic. Mostly a briefcase, sometimes a larger or smaller sheet with the possibility of folding. In it, in the form of drawings, charts, opened windows and movable elements, selected content is conveyed. It has the advantage over the classic written word that it arouses curiosity and motivates the child to discover hidden curiosities, as well as to collect them.

The lapbook also allows you to collect information and infinitely expand its content. And that can be very engaging and motivating.During the workshops, thanks to the self-prepared book-folder, the students were able to acquire knowledge about the Earth more easily. This allowed them to be creative and inventive.

The lapbook also stimulated their curiosity and motivated the children to discover new facts. It is an excellent teaching aid - thanks to various materials included in the package prepared by the eco-advisor, each student could create their own lapbook.
