Meeting of the WSB Academy students with the project "Silesia. Blue Sky Restored"

Meeting with the WSB Academy students

Yesterday we had the pleasure of hosting foreign students of the WSB Academy, who learned about the activities and everyday practice of the project "Silesia. Blue Sky Restored.”

The first part of the meeting took place at the headquarters of the Voivodeship Marshal's Office in Katowice. The meeting was opened by the Director of the Department of Investments and Regional Projects - Mrs. Barbara Kubiak, who presented the key aspects of the project, including its goals and methods of operation.

Then, thanks to a specialist in sustainable buildings – Ph. D Helena Jadwiszczok-Molencka, students learned how theoretical assumptions translate into practical solutions for increasing the energy efficiency of architecture and sustainability. Particular attention was paid to the unique on a global scale monitoring of the energy efficiency of 27 buildings in the Silesian Voivodeship, which enables comprehensive analysis and optimization of energy consumption in the tested buildings.

After the presentation at the Marshal's Office, the project team and the students visited the Silesian Botanical Garden of the Association of Sociaties. There, meeting participants had the opportunity to hear about concepts for increasing green areas in the Silesian Voivodeship. They were presented with practical solutions for the implementation of greenery in urban spaces, which is a key element in the process of improving the quality of life of the region's inhabitants.

Then the students were shown around the garden.  Representatives of the facility talked about various plant species that can be introduced into cities to create environmentally friendly and aesthetically attractive spaces. Students could therefore see with their own eyes how theory is transformed into functional solutions that improve the health and well-being of users.

The next point on the program was a show by the Institute of Fuel and Energy Technology, which presented the operation of a drone monitoring PM10 pollution. Students could learn how modern technology is used to monitor air quality.

All activities carried out as part of the "Silesia. Blue Sky Restored” met with great interest from students. Now they face the challenge of transferring the solutions they have learned to their final projects. We wish all students good luck and hope that the knowledge and experience gained will result in innovative projects that will contribute to the promotion of sustainable ideas.

We would like to thank our partners - the Silesian Botanical Garden, the Association of Societities and the Institute of Fuel and Energy Technology for their involvement in the study visit and comprehensive answers to the participants' questions.
