On June 21, 2025, Dankowice Drugie became the scene of an ecological adventure that combined environmental education, outdoor activity, and intergenerational joy. As part of the "Power of Generations" integration picnic, the family-oriented outdoor game "Less is BETTER! Less raw materials, less waste, less emissions" was held. Created by Dominika Bukalak-Gaik, Subregional Coordinator of the LIFE Integrated Project “Silesia. Blue Sky Restored,” the game was prepared especially for the Municipality of Krzepice.

The event was co-organized by Joanna Grzyb, the local eco-manager (ekodoradczyni), who actively supported the initiative and shared knowledge on circular economy and air quality with the participants.

An ecological journey surrounded by nature

Beautiful summer weather, a blue sky, and the green surroundings of the local Sports and Recreation Complex provided the perfect backdrop for an active, educational afternoon. Teams of children, parents, and grandparents set out with maps in hand to complete ecological tasks, solve puzzles, and most importantly – learn through experience.

The aim of the game was not only to complete all the checkpoints but also to build awareness of how to reduce resource consumption and pollutant emissions.

Buy less, repair more

Participants learned that waste is not useless – it can be a valuable resource when reused or recycled. They discovered why repairing and reusing products is crucial for protecting the environment. The game included challenges on waste minimization, renewable materials, and conscious consumer choices.

One station focused on the dangers of burning waste in home stoves, helping participants understand how such practices affect air quality and public health.

A game to remember

The event was met with enthusiastic feedback from participants, who appreciated the interactive, educational format. The atmosphere, strong community spirit, and excellent organization ensured the event would be remembered for years to come.

Special thanks were extended to Mayor Mateusz Kluba, City Council Chairman Rafał Balcerzak, Council Member Zbigniew Robak, President of the "Together for Dankowice" Association Magdalena Zalewska, and village leaders Kamil Kała and Monika Kasprzak, along with all those who supported and joined the game.

An official EU Green Week Partner Event

This outdoor game was officially registered as a Partner Event of EU Green Week 2025 and was held under the patronage of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union – highlighting its significance on a national and international scale.

"Less is better" – a message that stays with us

While the game came to an end, its message continues. The lessons learned during this fun-filled afternoon will help participants apply the principles of a circular economy in everyday life. Buying less, repairing more, reducing waste and emissions – every action matters, and together we can make a difference for our planet.
