Green Tworków: Joint Efforts for Cleaner Air and a Greener Environment

In May, two exceptional greening initiatives took place in Tworków, uniting the local community around the shared goal of environmental protection and improved air quality. These events were organized by the Municipality of Krzyżanowice and the irreplaceable driving force behind both actions – Angelika Krupa, the municipal eco-manager and the heart and soul of local environmental projects.

Thanks to Angelika Krupa’s dedication, the school in Tworków became a hub of pro-environmental activities that not only enhanced the local landscape, but also instilled a strong sense of responsibility for the planet’s future among children and youth.

The Antismog Team's Blooming Mission

The first initiative was carried out by the Antismog Team operating at the Tworków school. In cooperation with the Eco Team and with support from the Municipality of Krzyżanowice, the young participants planted azaleas, which not only beautified the school grounds but also contributed to increased biodiversity and improved air quality.

The planting process was carefully planned – the right plant species, suitable soil, and nutrients were selected to ensure the best possible conditions for growth. Students, teachers, and supervisors paid close attention to every detail, proving that even a small change in our surroundings can have a big impact on the local climate.

96 Trees – 96 Reasons to Act Together

The second event, held on May 21st, was even more ambitious. Fifth and sixth grade students from the Tworków school, together with the Antismog Team and their supervisors, planted 96 trees along the route connecting Tworków with Bieńkowice. This green initiative was made possible thanks to the partnership with Meandry Bank Krzyżanowice and the Municipality of Krzyżanowice.

The tree planting event served not only as a hands-on lesson in ecology but also as an opportunity to strengthen community bonds. After the planting was completed, students attended a short educational session in the atmospheric carriage house of the castle ruins. The talk covered the importance of trees in climate protection, as well as basic banking and savings principles.

The day concluded with well-deserved relaxation and social time – participants were treated to pizza and drinks. The event ended with an official thank-you from the Mayor of Krzyżanowice, Grzegorz Utracki, and Beata Łopocz, President of Meander Bank. Together with Michał Kura, they presented the young environmental enthusiasts with small gifts as tokens of appreciation for their hard work and commitment.

A Shared Vision for a Greener Future

The green initiatives in Tworków are a clear example of how environmental education and community collaboration can truly change our surroundings. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved – together we are restoring the blue skies over Silesia.
