Gliwice Cleaned Up the World. A Joint Action for the Environment

On 16 and 17 September, Gliwice once again joined the nationwide initiative “Clean Up the World.” For two days, hundreds of residents – from kindergarten children to adults – went out to clean up their surroundings together. Numerous schools, kindergartens, and district councils took part, proving that cooperation for nature has real power.
The city ensured full organisational support. The Municipal Office in Gliwice provided participants with bags and gloves, and all collected waste was efficiently collected and processed. The activities were coordinated by eco-manager Katarzyna Raszkowska from the Department of Environment, who supervised this year’s edition.
– This is a symbolic but very important gesture. It shows that the people of Gliwice can act together for nature and that we want to leave our city in better condition for future generations, emphasised Katarzyna Raszkowska.
The campaign had a much deeper meaning than just cleaning streets, squares, or green areas. It became a lesson in responsibility and cooperation, reminding everyone that daily habits – waste segregation, reduced consumption, or caring for shared spaces – shape the quality of life in the city.
Gliwice demonstrated that the involvement of the local community can be both an inspiration and an example for others. “Clean Up the World” in our city was not only a practical activity but also a message that caring for nature and clean air begins with simple actions, carried out together and with future generations in mind.
