On Saturday, June 14, 2025, Podłęże Królewskie became a vibrant center of environmental education. As part of the Feast of St. Anthony and Children's Day celebrations, the event "Ecosphere. Creating Eco-Friendly Decorations" took place, organized by eco-manager Joanna Grzyb under the project “Silesia. Blue Sky Restored.”

Upcycling in Practice – Simple Materials, Big Impact

Participants of the workshop learned how everyday waste can become not only decoration but also a symbol of environmental responsibility. Using seemingly useless items like glass jars and ordinary twine, they created minimalist vases—functional, stylish pieces that can easily find a place in any home. The workshop aimed to promote the idea of upcycling and encourage people to rethink “waste” as potential raw material.

Creating handmade decorations was not only an ecological activity but also an opportunity to nurture creativity, aesthetic sensitivity, and environmental awareness—especially among children. The participants realized that a circular economy is not just a concept but a practical approach that can be implemented at home.

A Quiz with Prizes and Learning Through Fun

After the workshop, participants took part in an educational quiz on circular economy and recycling, with questions about waste sorting, the benefits of upcycling, and the connection between recycling and air quality. Each correct answer earned an eco-friendly prize, motivating participants to engage more deeply with environmental topics.

There was also a post-competition exhibition of recycled headwear, showcasing the work of the winners of the “Don’t Burn – Design!” contest. These creative designs brilliantly combined fashion, art, and sustainability.

Expert Advice for Adults

Adults attending the event had the opportunity to consult with eco-managers and learn about:

  • available funding for eco-friendly home improvements (such as renewable energy systems and heating upgrades),
  • building thermal renovation—its impact on energy savings and indoor comfort,
  • and how everyday energy choices can improve air quality.

Special emphasis was placed on the fact that informed decisions about heating and energy efficiency have a real impact on reducing emissions and protecting public health.
