"Flower meadows" - webinar for eco-managers

We all know how important the green around us is. Both for improving air quality, for preserving (and rebuilding!) ecosystems, especially those related to insects, for proper groundwater retention, and finally for the beauty of our cities and villages. The project "Silesia. Blue sky restored" also includes tasks related to the creation of green areas.

Therefore, an online training on the importance and organization of flower meadows was organized for eco-managers and project coordinators.

During the webinar, Karol Podyma from the Flower Foundation explained what flower meadows are, what types they can be and what their meaning is.

He also raised the issues of plant species used to establish flower meadows, methods of soil preparation and ways of establishing meadows.

He discussed the possibilities of using flower meadows in urban areas, roadside areas, agricultural and investment areas, on photovoltaic farms, for soil reclamation, for restoring natural habitats, for combating invasive species.

Together with the participants, he discussed the air purifying effect, oxygen production and C02 sequestration by flower meadows.

He also presented other interesting solutions from the Nature-Based Solutions field, including: retention reservoirs, pocket gardens, urban balconies, flower belts in agriculture.

The training was also attended by representatives of municipalities responsible for green areas.

The webinar was one of the stages of improving the qualifications of eco-managers.
