Festive Creativity in the Spirit of Ecology – “Eco-Decoration” Contest in Kroczyce Municipality

In December, as part of the LIFE project Silesia. Blue Sky Restored, a unique art competition for the best eco-friendly holiday decoration was held. The event, organized by eco-manager of Kroczyce Municipality, Aneta Szczechla, under the patronage of the Mayor of Kroczyce, aimed to develop participants' artistic skills while promoting eco-friendly attitudes.

The main challenge for participants was to create a Christmas decoration using recycled materials such as cardboard, paper, newspapers, plastic, used fabrics, or natural elements like pinecones. The finished decorations could not exceed 15 cm in height and width, which required precision and creativity from the participants.

The competition was divided into two age categories: grades I-IV and grades V-VIII. A total of 27 entries were submitted and judged based on creativity, originality, aesthetics, and the practical application of environmental knowledge.

The submitted decorations impressed not only with their aesthetics but also with their creativity and level of technical difficulty. Participants proved that even discarded materials can be given a second life and transformed into beautiful Christmas ornaments. The competition perfectly demonstrated that ecology and art can go hand in hand, inspiring responsible environmental behavior.

In January 2025, award ceremonies were held in primary schools across Kroczyce Municipality. The prizes, funded by the Silesia. Blue Sky Restored project, emphasized the importance of environmental education and the engagement of young residents in caring for a cleaner environment.

The “Eco Decoration” competition was not only an opportunity to develop artistic talents but also an excellent lesson in sustainability.
