Gliwice once again proved that fun, education, and ecology can go hand in hand. On Sunday, 3 August 2025, Chopin Park was filled with joy, music, and activities for entire families. Despite the capricious weather, smiles never left the faces of participants who came in large numbers to the 9th Gliwice Family Festival.

A park full of attractions

Chopin Park – the green heart of the city – turned into a true space for meetings, play, and learning. Among the most popular attractions were the sports town, art workshops, dance animations, and inflatable playgrounds. Great excitement was sparked by the presentations of equipment from the State Fire Service, the Police, and the City Guard. Children could take a close look at fire trucks and police cars, and even talk to officers.

On the main stage, music brought generations together. The audience enjoyed the performance of the Huta Łabędy Brass Band, while the band Czereśnie encouraged everyone to sing along. The grand finale of the event was a family dance party with the greatest hits played by DJ BABA.

Ecology in practice

A special highlight was the information and consultation stand of the project “Silesia. Blue Sky Restored”. It was there that eco-manager Katarzyna Raszkowska prepared a set of games, riddles, and puzzles related to environmental protection.

– Our stand was meant to show that ecology is not just theory, but above all everyday choices made by each of us, emphasized Raszkowska. – That’s why we focused on interactive forms: ecological puzzles, coloring pages, quizzes. I saw how eagerly children answered questions, while adults asked about opportunities to replace heating sources or apply for home insulation support programs. These conversations are priceless, because they build ecological awareness in whole families.

Participants stressed that the stand was not only an opportunity for fun but also a chance to gain practical information. Many stopped by to learn more about reducing energy consumption or taking advantage of municipal and regional grant programs.

A joint effort of city districts

The Gliwice Family Festival is an initiative of the district councils: Łabędy, Śródmieście, Baildona, Czechowice, Sikornik, Sośnica, Wojska Polskiego, Wójtowa Wieś, Zatorze, and Żerniki. The event was held under the patronage of Gliwice Mayor Katarzyna Kuczyńska-Budka, who has long supported initiatives that integrate residents and promote an active lifestyle.

This year’s edition brought together more than 300 participants, and the diversity of the program ensured that everyone could find something for themselves. Some took part in a treasure hunt with prizes, others enjoyed the food stalls or simply relaxed on the grass while listening to music.

Gliwice united by family spirit

The 9th Gliwice Family Festival showed that spending time together through fun and education is the best recipe for community integration. It was also an important lesson in ecology – presented in an engaging, accessible way, appealing to both children and adults.

The family celebration in Chopin Park proved that Gliwice can connect generations and themes – from art, through sports and safety, to ecology. All with one shared goal: to make the city an even better, healthier, and more conscious place to live.
