Environmental Education from an Early Age in the Kroczyce Municipality

On March 28, at the kindergarten in Siamoszyce, eco-manager Aneta Szczechla organized a session focused on the benefits of planting greenery and explaining what smog is and how it negatively affects our lives and health.
During the meeting, the children not only gained valuable knowledge about environmental protection but also actively participated in pro-ecological activities. They received plant seeds to plant on their own—learning responsibility and care for nature through hands-on experience.
The session began with a conversation about plants and their importance for life on Earth. The children learned about the vital role of trees and other plants in producing oxygen, purifying the air, and supporting ecosystems. The eco-manager explained in a clear and age-appropriate way why planting and nurturing plants is so important.
The most exciting part of the event was handing out plant seeds to the children, which they could now plant and care for themselves. It was a great lesson in responsibility and patience, as the little ones would get to observe how a tiny seed turns into a green plant. This process helps them better understand the cycle of life and the importance of caring for the natural world.
During the session, the eco-manager also drew attention to a pressing issue of today’s world—air pollution. She explained, in a child-friendly way, what smog and other pollutants are, where they come from, and what consequences they can have for human health and the environment. The children learned that burning waste, excessive car use, and industrial emissions cause air to become harmful for people, animals, and plants.
The preschoolers took part in the activities with great enthusiasm and eagerly shared their thoughts about nature.
The sessions conducted by the eco-manager in the Siamoszyce kindergarten are a great example of how play and experience can be used to shape environmental awareness from an early age.
The children not only learned about the importance of caring for plants, but also gained an understanding of the dangers caused by air pollution. The seeds they received are a symbolic step toward a better future—a small gesture that can have a big impact on our planet.
Initiatives like this one show that environmental education makes sense and brings real benefits.
