Ecology in the Spotlight at Żarnowiec Days

The 27th Żarnowiec Days, held on 27 July, drew crowds of residents and visitors. Among the many attractions, ecology took center stage thanks to the impressive presentation of the LIFE project “Silesia. Blue Sky Restored”, represented by eco-manager Iwona Gębka.
The event stood out not only for its festive atmosphere but also for its commitment to education and the promotion of environmentally friendly practices. The eco-stand became one of the most frequently visited points of the entire celebration, with many visitors stopping by to learn how to improve air quality and comfort in their own homes and neighborhoods.
Advice that makes a difference
During the event, participants had the opportunity to speak with the eco-manager about current funding programmes supporting the replacement of heat sources, thermal renovation, and energy efficiency improvements. Visitors received detailed information about the LIFE project “Silesia. Blue Sky Restored”, available co-financing options, and application procedures. The chance to speak with an expert face-to-face helped many attendees clarify doubts and plan specific steps toward eco-friendly solutions.
Green inspiration and fun for the whole family
Informational leaflets and eco-lifestyle promotional gadgets were also available and proved extremely popular. The stand was not only educational, but also inspired people to take everyday actions – from waste segregation to choosing cleaner heating systems and forming sustainable habits.
Children were especially welcome. The youngest participants enthusiastically colored environmental illustrations, solved nature-themed quizzes, and took part in simple but engaging eco-games. Thanks to this, the eco-stand buzzed with joy and activity throughout the day.
Ecology in practice
The presence of eco-manager Iwona Gębka during Żarnowiec Days demonstrated that ecology can be accessible, practical, and relevant. The event clearly showed that environmental awareness in the local community is on the rise, and that there is growing public support for collective climate and air quality action.
