Eco-Quiz in Gierałtowice – Education, Fun and Practical Knowledge

During the family school fair of the School and Preschool Complex in Gierałtowice, held on 31 May 2025, environmental education took centre stage. The LIFE project “Silesia. Blue Sky Restored” hosted an information stand run by eco-manager Tomasz Jachnik, drawing in participants of all ages.

Eco-Knowledge in a Fun Format – Quiz with Prizes

The main attraction at the stand was the Eco-Quiz, which tested participants’ knowledge of air protection, climate issues and proper waste segregation. With over 100 completed quizzes, the activity attracted great interest. It proved to be not only entertaining but also an effective way to raise awareness. To encourage participation, attractive prizes were awarded to many of the contestants.

Valuable Information for Informed Decisions

The eco-advice point was also a valuable source of up-to-date and practical knowledge on:

• the anti-smog resolution in force in the Silesian Voivodeship,
• deadlines for replacing outdated heating sources,
• available funding programmes for eco-friendly heating solutions,
• the impact of air pollution on health and quality of life.

Eco-manager Tomasz Jachnik answered questions, provided guidance and encouraged residents to make more environmentally conscious decisions in their daily lives.

Education Close to the Community

Having an eco-advice point at community and family events is a proven way to promote environmental awareness. By combining learning with local initiatives, ecological education becomes accessible and engaging. The success of the event in Gierałtowice confirmed once again that residents are eager to get involved in efforts to improve air quality and protect the climate.
