On June 21, 2025, the Świerklany Municipality once again combined culture and environmental education in a unique way. As part of the European Union Green Week and under the patronage of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council, Eco-Cinema took place – a film day that attracted both cinema enthusiasts and those interested in environmental protection.

A Cinematic Journey with a Message

Eco-Cinema was more than just a movie screening – it was an event that invited participants to reflect on air quality, the circular economy, and how everyday choices shape the future of our planet. Thanks to eco-manager Jakub Szulik, attendees had the opportunity not only to watch inspiring films but also to learn about the anti-smog resolution, options for heating system replacement, building thermal upgrades, and renewable energy solutions.

Open-Air Cinema Under the Stars

The evening screening at the OSiR Świerklany square gathered a large audience under the starlit sky. The featured film, Into the Wild, told the true story of a young man who rejects a consumerist lifestyle in pursuit of authenticity and harmony with nature. The film served as a springboard for discussions about living in balance with the environment and individual ecological responsibility.

Big Screen Indoors – Big Questions About Our Planet

At the same time, two well-known films were shown inside the GOKiR Świerklany banquet hall. Wall-E – a touching animated story about a robot left to clean up an abandoned, polluted Earth – and Avatar, which explored the conflict between technological expansion and respect for nature. The screenings ran throughout the day, attracting audiences of all ages.

Entertainment That Inspires Action

Eco-Cinema in Świerklany demonstrated that cinema can be more than entertainment – it can be a source of inspiration and a call to action. Viewers left not only emotionally moved but also provoked to ask: How do my daily choices impact the environment? Can I live more responsibly? Initiatives like this raise ecological awareness and encourage collective engagement for a healthier future.
