On Thursday, April 24, 2025, a primary school in Kalety transformed into a vibrant and energetic space where ecology met art and education. This special Earth Day celebration aimed to raise environmental awareness among children and young people. The event brought together students, teachers, and members of the local community, becoming an inspiring example of how to promote environmental responsibility in an engaging way.

The highlight of the program was an interschool competition entitled "From Waste to Runway – Creative Outfits for Earth Day." The initiative was organized by an eco-manager in cooperation with one of the teachers, with the goal of showing that recycling can be not only practical but also imaginative.

Pupils took to the school runway wearing original outfits made entirely from repurposed materials. Among the creations were newspaper dresses, capes made from plastic bags, jewelry crafted from bottle caps, and many other inventive designs. The students approached the challenge with great enthusiasm, proving that limited resources are no barrier to creativity and visual appeal.

The jury awarded the most impressive projects, while the audience selected its favorite through a public vote. Every participant received a gift, and all prizes – both main and consolation – were funded by the City of Kalety as part of the LIFE project "Silesia. Blue Sky Restored."

The Earth Day celebration in Kalety offered not only fun but also a valuable lesson in environmental responsibility. Thanks to its creative format, the event showed students that taking action for the planet is possible in everyday life and can bring both satisfaction and joy. The recycling fashion show stood as a great example of how ecological themes can be integrated into school activities to foster pro-environmental attitudes from an early age.

The event was held as part of the LIFE project "Silesia. Blue Sky Restored."
