Dumpling Festival in Eco Style. Tradition and Ecology in the Kroczyce Commune

On 6 September, one of the most anticipated local events took place in the Kroczyce Commune – the “Dumpling Festival.” This annual gathering, which has permanently entered the municipality’s event calendar, once again attracted both residents and visitors from nearby towns. This year’s edition, in addition to culinary attractions, gained a unique ecological dimension thanks to the presence of eco-manager Aneta Szczechla’s information point.
During the event, participants could not only taste traditional homemade dumplings prepared by local housewives but also receive valuable advice on environmental protection. The eco-manager answered numerous questions related to the possibilities of using programmes supporting renewable energy sources, replacing heating systems, and thermomodernising buildings. Residents learned how they could obtain funding for ecological investments, which in the future would translate into savings and improved air quality in the region.
The atmosphere was extremely warm and conducive to conversation. Participants eagerly stopped by the eco-manager’s stand to jointly seek answers to questions about how each of us can contribute to protecting the natural environment. The meeting became an opportunity to exchange experiences and build ecological awareness among the commune’s residents.
For years, the “Dumpling Festival” has served as an event that integrates the community, and this year’s edition showed that tradition and a modern approach to ecology can go hand in hand. It was a time not only for tasting regional dishes but also for reflecting together on the future – both ours and that of the next generations.
Such initiatives are extremely important because they combine the joy of meeting and celebrating together with ecological education. Thanks to this, every participant could take away from the event something more than just culinary memories – the awareness that they have a real impact on the environment in which they live.
