April, the Month for Earth in the Northern Subregion.

April, the Month for Earth. Under this slogan, Subregional Eco-Advisor Dominika Bukalak-Gaik carried out her activities as part of this year's World Earth Day. Educational workshops, creative workshops, an ecological knowledge contest, and individual consultations for residents were all aimed at gaining a better understanding of our planet's needs and the environmental threats the world has been facing lately.

At the beginning of April, the Eco-Advisor conducted educational and creative workshops titled "Eco Easter Decoration" at the Primary School in Podlesie and the Primary School in Ślęzany. The workshops were held in the spirit of DIY (do-it-yourself). Students decorated spring trees with baskets, chicks, lambs, and rabbits made from paper rolls and paper cups.

In the 1st to 3rd grades and Preschool Units of the Primary School in Turowo, the Primary School in Nierada, and the Preschool in Poczesna, the Eco-Advisor conducted educational workshops titled "Letter from the Earth." In a mysterious package addressed to the children, the Earth asked for their help. The children enthusiastically solved the ecological tasks prepared for them, proving that they have a good understanding of our planet's needs, such as the necessity of saving water and energy, caring for animals, and waste segregation and recycling. As a reward for their involvement, each child received the Friend of the Earth Medal.

Under the slogan "Give the Earth a Breath," the Janów Educational Institutions celebrated this year's Earth Day. As part of the LIFE project "Śląskie. Restoring the Blue," lectures and educational activities were organized for students in grades 1 to 7. During the workshops, the Eco-Advisor discussed various topics related to ecological threats, including air pollution, water contamination, climate change, and excessive waste production.

A total of over 530 students from primary schools and preschool units in the Northern Subregion participated in the educational and creative workshops.

On April 18, 2023, the Interpreschool Ecological Knowledge Contest "I Want to Be ECO" took place at the Primary School in Nierada. Fourteen children from preschools in the Poczesna Municipality and the Municipal Preschool in Starcza took part in the competition. The main goal of the contest was to shape ecological attitudes and increase ecological awareness among preschoolers.

The Eco-Advisor, Dominika Bukalak-Gaik, co-organized and served as a judge for the contest. The competition was divided into three rounds. Children answered randomly selected questions and riddles and presented eco-poems, enriching their presentations with interesting props and costumes.

The youngest group of students from the Primary School in Nierada welcomed all the guests with a beautiful performance of an ecological song titled "Earth is a Green Island."
