A Green Future Begins in Kalety

On April 1 and 2, 2025, in Kalety – the Forest Corner of Silesia – unique workshops were held at Public Primary School No. 1 named after Adam Mickiewicz in Kalety and at Public Primary School No. 2 in Kalety-Miotek. These workshops combined ecological education with hands-on environmental action.

Participants had the opportunity to plant hyacinths in biodegradable pots and decorate them with eco-friendly materials. They also learned valuable information about the impact of plants on the air quality we all share.

The workshops began with a short presentation by eco-manager Sandra Tatarek, who introduced the participants to the topic of clean air. She emphasized the crucial role plants play in maintaining good air quality. Sandra also spoke about air pollution and the consequences it brings – both for our well-being and for the entire ecosystem.

A significant role in the workshops was played by biodegradable coconut pots, which, unlike plastic containers, decompose quickly and leave no lasting trace in nature.

After the educational part, it was time to get creative! The participants eagerly decorated their pots using eco-friendly materials, turning them into true works of art that will soon decorate their homes.

These remarkable workshops were carried out as part of the Life project “Silesia. Blue Sky Restored,” which aims to improve air quality and promote pro-environmental activities in the region. Thanks to this initiative, young people had the chance not only to learn about environmental protection, but also to actively engage in actions for a cleaner future.
